Starlight Reflections

NASA APOD · Robert Gendler
COSMIC MESSAGE

Interstellar dust grains, when near bright stars, reflect starlight. They scatter blue light more efficiently than red, creating these beautiful blue reflection nebulae. Astrophotographer Rob Gendler assembled these nine spectacular examples. From NGC 1977 in Orion to IC2118, the Witch Head, these nebulae are visual evidence of dust in space.
