COSMIC MESSAGE
From the bottom of the world, during the long Antarctic night of 1998, spectacular aurora substorms were photographed. This image shows the Martin A. Pomerantz Observatory and the canvas dome of the now-defunct SPIREX telescope. The temperature at the time was extremely cold, around -73 Celsius, as the aurora lit up the sky.
