Eta Carinae, a star about 100 times more massive than our Sun, is expected to explode as a supernova, though no one knows when. About 150 years ago, it underwent an unusual outburst, becoming one of the brightest stars in the southern sky. Located in the Keyhole Nebula, Eta Carinae is the only known star to emit natural LASER light.
