NGC 6946 is a face-on spiral galaxy located about 10 million light-years away in the constellation Cepheus. Its colors shift from the yellowish light of old stars in the core to blue star clusters and reddish star-forming regions in the spiral arms. This galaxy is also known for its high rate of supernovae, earning it the nickname "Fireworks Galaxy."
