Quaoar: Large Asteroid in the Outer Solar System

Quaoar is an asteroid more than half the size of Pluto, discovered orbiting in the outer Solar System. The Oschin Telescope at Palomar, California, captured its movement against background stars in these discovery images. Quaoar is one of several large asteroids found beyond Neptune, expanding our understanding of the Solar System's distant reaches.
