NGC 6960: The Witch's Broom Nebula

COSMIC MESSAGE

Ten thousand years ago, a new light appeared in the night sky and faded after a few weeks. That light was an exploding star, and its colorful expanding cloud is the Veil Nebula. This is NGC 6960, the Witch's Broom Nebula, the western end of the Veil. The gas gets its colors by impacting and exciting existing nearby gas.
