Comet Kudo-Fujikawa: Days in the Sun
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Comet Kudo-Fujikawa reached its closest approach to the Sun on January 29th, passing within 28.4 million kilometers. This is much closer than Mercury, which orbits at 57.9 million kilometers from our star. The comet was too close to the Sun for Earth-based observers to see, but the SOHO observatory captured these views. It appeared extremely bright as it cruised through the inner Solar System.
