COSMIC MESSAGE
In the faint constellation Monoceros, the Unicorn, a region of glowing hydrogen gas surrounds the variable star S Mon. This area, NGC 2264, is a mix of reddish emission nebulae, lit by young stars, and dark dust clouds. When those dust clouds are near stars, they reflect starlight, creating blue reflection nebulae. It is about 2,700 light-years away.
