The Star Trails of Kilimanjaro

This long-exposure photograph from Mount Kilimanjaro shows star trails across the night sky. The landscape is lit mostly by the stars themselves, with some light from distant city lights filtering through clouds. The view from this equatorial mountain is toward the south, with the South Celestial Pole near the horizon. The photographer recorded this image over three and a half hours on a moonless night.
