The Egg Nebula in Polarized Light
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Egg Nebula, about a light year across, is a pre-planetary nebula in Cygnus. A star at its center is casting off gas and dust as it evolves into a white dwarf. Thick dust obscures the central star from direct view, but we see the light it reflects from the surrounding shells.
