Aurora Over Edmonton

COSMIC MESSAGE

Northern and southern locales saw many beautiful auroras last week, as particles from several large solar flares impacted Earth. Many reported unusually red auroras, though colors across the spectrum were also seen. Power grids and orbiting satellites braced for the onslaught, but little lasting damage was reported. This image shows the Clover Bar Power Plant photographed from the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, with a small pond in the foreground.
