The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) is mapping the universe in 3D, measuring distances to over a million galaxies. This map, using 2D images and distance measurements, shows that dark matter and dark energy dominate the cosmos. The SDSS has already mapped over 200,000 galaxies in 3D.
