NGC 604: Giant Stellar Nursery
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Stars are sometimes born in chaotic environments. About three million years ago, in the nearby galaxy M33, a large gas cloud spawned dense knots that collapsed to form stars, creating NGC 604. This Hubble image shows many young stars from this cloud and the remnants of the initial gas cloud. Some massive stars have already evolved and exploded.
