Intriguing Dimples Near Eagle Crater on Mars

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Opportunity rover, looking back towards its landing site at Eagle crater, spotted unusual dimples in the Martian soil. These depressions, about one meter across, appear to have light-colored rock inside them. The nearest dimple was named "Homeplate," and the next one "First Base," as seen in this panorama.
