NASA APOD · Heidi Schweiker
COSMIC MESSAGE

M39 is an open cluster of stars in the constellation Cygnus, just at the limit of human perception. It spans an angle larger than the Moon and lies about 800 light-years away. This image is a mosaic of 33 frames taken by the WIYN telescope on Kitt Peak, showing stars that are about 300 million years old, much younger than our Sun.
