NASA APOD · Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope
COSMIC MESSAGE

Spiral galaxy M66 is not symmetric, likely due to the tidal gravitational pull of its neighbor, M65. Its spiral arms are uneven, and its nucleus appears displaced. M66 spans about 100,000 light-years and is 35 million light-years distant. It is the largest galaxy in a group that also includes M65.
