Venus: Earth's Cloudy Twin

NASA APOD · Calvin J. Hamilton
COSMIC MESSAGE

Venus, sometimes called Earth's sister planet due to its similar size and mass, has a dramatically different climate. This picture by the Galileo spacecraft shows its thick, global cloud cover. These clouds and Venus's proximity to the Sun make it the hottest planet in our solar system. The extreme conditions mean no life as we know it could survive there.
