Arp 188 and the Tadpole's Tidal Tail

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

This Hubble Space Telescope image shows Arp 188, also known as the Tadpole Galaxy, located 420 million light-years away in Draco. Its prominent tail, about 280,000 light-years long, is filled with bright blue star clusters. This long tail is thought to be the result of a smaller intruder galaxy that passed through Arp 188, pulling out its stars and gas through gravitational tidal forces.
