COSMIC MESSAGE
On June 8, 2004, Venus crossed directly in front of the Sun, an event called a transit. This celestial alignment had not occurred since 1882. Observers in Europe, Asia, and Africa saw the entire transit, while those in northeastern North America witnessed the Sun rise with Venus already silhouetted against it. This rare astronomical event was a global spectacle.
