Attacking Mars

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Spirit rover closely inspected rocks near Columbia Hills on Mars. What looks like an attack is a scientific operation, with the rover's Instrument Deployment Device guiding the Microscopic Imager. The Front Hazard Avoidance Camera captured this image as the imager examined a rock dubbed "Breadbox." The rock's surface is consistent with basalt composition.
