The Unusual Blueberries at Bylot Rock

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

These unusual, non-spherical rocks, dubbed "blueberries," were found by the Opportunity rover on Mars' Meridiani Planum. Taken by the rover's microscopic imager, the image shows these strangely shaped formations perched on Bylot rock. Scientists hypothesize that a relatively erosion-resistant coating might explain their lack of roundness.
