Titan Through the Haze

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

What are these surface features on Titan? The Cassini spacecraft imaged much of the south polar surface of this planet-sized moon during an initial flyby in early July. This image mosaic was stitched together from pictures taken in a specific color of polarized infrared light. This color is not absorbed and little scattered by Titan's methane haze, revealing light and dark regions that are not yet understood.
