The Perseus Cluster of Galaxies

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Each fuzzy blob in this picture is a galaxy, together making up the Perseus Cluster. This is one of the closest clusters of galaxies, seen through foreground stars in our own Milky Way. Light takes roughly 300 million years to get here from this region, so we see this cluster as it existed before the age of the dinosaurs. The center of the cluster, also known as Abell 426, is a strong source of X-rays.
