Magnetars In The Sky

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

This infrared image shows candidate magnetars near the galactic center. These are believed to be the strongest magnets in the galaxy. Magnetars are city-sized, spinning neutron stars with incredibly powerful magnetic fields. Earth's magnetic field is about 1 Gauss, but a magnetar's field can be a thousand trillion times stronger.
