GRO J1655-40: Evidence for a Spinning Black Hole
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
At the center of GRO J1655-40, hot gas swirls around what is likely a black hole. Studies of the light from this gas show an unusual flickering, 450 times per second. Combined with an estimated mass seven times that of our Sun, this rapid flickering provides evidence for a black hole that is spinning.
