COSMIC MESSAGE

Since we are inside the Milky Way and opaque dust blocks our view in visible light, no one knows for sure what our galaxy looks like from afar. This drawing, however, is a good guess based on many different types of observations. The Milky Way's center has a very bright core region around a large black hole. Its central bulge is thought to be an asymmetrical bar of relatively old, red stars, with spiral arms in the outer regions.
