SMART-1: Pythagoras Crater

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

This mosaic of images from ESA's SMART-1 spacecraft shows Pythagoras Crater on the Moon. The crater is 120 kilometers wide, with central peaks and terraced walls. These features are characteristic of large, complex impact craters, formed by the rebound of the lunar crust during the impact. SMART-1 reached lunar orbit in November, after a 13-month journey powered by an ion engine.
