COSMIC MESSAGE

The Sun's light, when passed through a prism, reveals a spectrum of colors. This image from the McMath-Pierce Solar Observatory shows that while the Sun emits nearly every color, it is brightest in yellow-green. Dark lines in the spectrum indicate specific colors absorbed by gas at or above the Sun's surface, a mystery still under investigation.
