COSMIC MESSAGE

Astronomers have found evidence for a surprisingly large number of black holes or neutron stars swarming around the Milky Way's central supermassive black hole. These objects are likely in binary star systems. This Chandra Observatory X-ray image shows four variable sources, labeled A-D, within this region. This monitoring program provides insights into the dynamics of our galactic center.
