The Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex is a star-forming region in the constellation Ophiuchus. The blue areas are reflection nebulae, where starlight scatters off dust. Red and yellow regions are emission nebulae, glowing from energized atomic and molecular gas. This image captures the various processes occurring as new stars ignite within these colorful clouds.
