Arp 295 is a peculiar pair of interacting galaxies connected by a spectacular bridge of stars and gas, stretching for nearly 250,000 light-years. This cosmic bridge and the long tidal tail are strong evidence of a past close encounter between the two galaxies. Mutual gravity induced violent tides, creating these plumes of stellar material. Such galactic interactions unfold over immense timescales, reshaping the galaxies involved.
