Supernova Remnant N132D in Optical and X Rays

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Thousands of years after a star exploded in the Large Magellanic Cloud, its remnant, N132D, still glows. The expanding shell from this explosion now spans 80 light-years, sweeping up about 600 Suns worth of mass. Hubble captured the optical light, which was then combined with X-ray data to show the full extent of this cosmic event.
