SOHO's Uninterrupted View of the Sun
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
SOHO, the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, launched ten years ago this week. It still has an uninterrupted view of the Sun from its orbit around a Lagrange point, 1.5 million kilometers sunward of Earth. The spacecraft's twelve instruments have explored the Sun's internal structure, its extensive atmosphere, and the solar wind. SOHO has also discovered over 1,000 comets.
