NASA APOD · Jean-Charles Cuillandre
COSMIC MESSAGE

These clouds of interstellar dust and gas have blossomed 1,300 light-years away in the constellation Cepheus. Sometimes called the Iris Nebula, or NGC 7023, this nebula evokes the imagery of flowers. This digital image shows off its range of colors and symmetries. Dusty nebular material within the Iris surrounds a massive, hot, young star.
