Arp 188 and the Tadpole's Tidal Tail

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Arp 188, the Tadpole Galaxy, has a long tail of stars and gas stretching hundreds of thousands of light-years. This tail formed when a smaller galaxy passed through it, pulling material away. The Hubble Space Telescope captured this view of the disrupted spiral galaxy.
