The Crown of the Sun

COSMIC MESSAGE
During a total solar eclipse, the Sun's outer atmosphere, the corona, becomes visible. Its subtle shades and shimmering features span a brightness range of over 10,000 to 1, making them difficult to capture in a single picture. This composite of 33 digital images, taken from Side, Turkey, comes very close. It reveals the corona in all its detail, from the inner regions to the faint streamers extending far out.
