NASA APOD · R. Jay GaBany (Cosmotography.com)
COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 1579, sometimes called the Trifid of the North, is a dusty star-forming region in the constellation Perseus. It resembles the more famous Trifid Nebula but lies farther north. This captivating region, about 2,100 light-years away, shows both the red glow of hydrogen gas and the blue of reflected starlight. Dark dust lanes are visible, similar to its southern counterpart.
