Dark Sun Sizzling

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

This is our Sun, captured in three wavelengths of ultraviolet light. Even on a normal day, the Sun is a churning ball of hot gas. Regions of strong, tangled magnetic fields cause sunspots and bright active areas. Hot hydrogen gas streams along these magnetic loops, sometimes falling back to the surface, and sometimes escaping into space as solar wind.
