COSMIC MESSAGE

These are the Small and Large Magellanic Clouds, two small, irregular galaxies orbiting our Milky Way. Named for Ferdinand Magellan, they are prominent features of the southern sky. This early morning view from Queensland, Australia, shows them hovering in the brightening sky, framed by low clouds.
