COSMIC MESSAGE
While people on Earth look up to watch meteor showers, astronaut Ron Garan captured a Perseid meteor by looking down. From the International Space Station, orbiting at 380 kilometers, the Perseid meteors streak below. These meteors are swept-up dust from Comet Swift-Tuttle, vaporizing at 60 kilometers per second in the denser atmosphere.
