Anticrepuscular Rays Over Florida

NASA APOD · Daniel Herron
COSMIC MESSAGE

Sometimes, light and clouds create strange optical effects. These are anticrepuscular rays, appearing opposite the setting sun. While the sun sets in one direction, these rays seem to converge on the opposite horizon. It's a trick of perspective: the parallel rays of sunlight appear to converge due to the distance, like railroad tracks.
