Eris: The Largest Known Dwarf Planet

COSMIC MESSAGE

Eris, a dwarf planet slightly larger than Pluto, orbits the Sun at up to twice Pluto's distance. The Keck Telescope in Hawaii captured this image of Eris and its moon, Dysnomia. Eris was renamed from 2003 UB313 and is currently the largest known dwarf planet.
