Saturn's familiar rings nearly vanish in this infrared view from the Cassini spacecraft, seen edge-on. The planet itself glows in false color, with blue-green hues on the day side reflecting visible sunlight from cloud tops. This image, taken by the Visual and Infrared Mapping Spectrometer, shows the striking contrast between night and day on the gas giant.
