In 1972, astronaut Harrison Schmitt explored the Moon's surface during the Apollo 17 mission. This panorama, compiled from photos taken by astronaut Eugene Cernan, shows the desolate lunar landscape. You can see lunar rocks in the foreground, mountains in the background, small craters, and a lunar rover track.
