IC 2118: The Witch Head Nebula

The Witch Head Nebula, IC 2118, is a reflection nebula associated with the bright star Rigel in Orion. Its suggestive shape glows primarily from light reflected off Rigel, located just off the upper right edge of the full image. Fine dust in the nebula reflects the light. The blue color is caused by Rigel's blue-white light and the way dust scatters blue light more efficiently.
