Bright Spiral Galaxy M81 from Hubble
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Hubble Space Telescope has captured a detailed image of the spiral galaxy M81, resolving individual stars within it. This achievement is similar to Edwin Hubble's work in the 1920s, which resolved stars in M31. That work proved that M31 was an entire galaxy, not just a gas cloud.
