RCW 79: Stars in a Bubble

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

RCW 79 is a cosmic bubble of gas and dust, about 70 light-years across. Winds and radiation from hot young stars blew it into existence. This Spitzer Space Telescope image shows infrared light from the dust, tinted red. The expanding nebula, 17,000 light-years away in Centaurus, has triggered new star formation as it plows into surrounding gas.
