COSMIC MESSAGE
Comet C/2023 E1 ATLAS, discovered in March, reached its closest point to the Sun on July 1. This telescopic image shows the comet with a greenish coma and a faint ion tail against stars in Ursa Minor. The comet's closest approach to Earth will occur on August 18.
