The Dark Tower in Scorpius

COSMIC MESSAGE
This dark cosmic cloud, spanning almost 40 light-years, sits in silhouette against a crowded star field in Scorpius. It is known as The Dark Tower. Monstrous clumps of dust and molecular gas are collapsing within it, forming new stars. Intense ultraviolet radiation from nearby OB associations shapes this swept-back, cometary globule.
