COSMIC MESSAGE
Jupiter is an astronomer's planet, with its large size and contrasting cloud belts allowing detailed studies with Earth-bound telescopes. Views of Jupiter's moons usually show only featureless points of light. This picture from a small, ground-based telescope reveals a stunning amount of detail on Ganymede. Ganymede is a Jovian moon about the same size as Earth's moon, but at least 1,500 times more massive.
